Hello my name is LaSha. For my last child I decided that I wanted to step out of the norm of delivering at the hospital and deliver in our home. When I contacted New Phase I was already 20 weeks pregnant due to looking at several other facilities. When I met Pam and viewed the site I immediately felt a sense of passion and genuine care “not just seen as a dollar sign “like I felt with other places.” I knew then that I had found my birthing team. Throughout the rest of my pregnancy I met wit each midwife, students and office staff. Each one of them were so pleasant I felt confident with whoever would be on call when came into labor! I had learned soo much about my body, pregnancy that my regular OB Never mentioned. My OB put me on baby aspirin. I had the same OB for years and Never had a high blood pressure reading. When she told me I would be on baby aspirin I assumed it was because of my age “36.” When I had my visit with New Phase and they received all of my medical records I was told to stop taking it. That just reassured me even more that i made the best decision for our daughter and myself. To be stereotyped and put on baby aspirin because of my race was very upsetting. So now we’re at the grand finale. I called Marianna around 1am when my contractions were about 15-18 minutes apart. A second call came when they were five minutes apart and she came right over. I had met with Marianna several times so I was totally comfortable with her. My labor progressed smoothly I was 8 centimeters when Marianna arrived. As she and her assistant was getting everything together I was able to walk throughout my home and mentally prepare for pushing. Marianna was very tentative about everything! Finally it was time to push. I had prepared so much for this moment but somehow it all went out of my head. Marianna guided me, encouraged me and ultimately safely took me threw my finale two pushes after she broke my water and Zuri made her grand entrance into the world. The delivery was amazing! Unlike my other two deliveries i had No ripping or tearing. I wish I could’ve had New Phase Birthing Nest for all of my girls! If you’re considering a birthing team Hands Down Marianna and her entire team are very qualified and amazing at what they do you’ll be in great hands that actually are passionate about what they do!!!
